During my time visiting Shiyala I’ve been fortunate to come to know Agnes and Clement and their children. I met Agnes on the very first visit, when she was a volunteer at the health post.
On a later visit, with newly born Sally on her back, she helped introduce the village children to the computers Mothers of Africa had donated.
On the day of the portrait session, Agnes was in Chongwe with Edward but her husband Clement came with three of the children, Sally, Elizabet and Emmanuel.
When it came to the school build, Clement was one of the bricklayers, while Agnes ran the small shop the women’s cooperative had started, and this year we learn that Agnes was now studying to qualify as a teacher.
An amazing opportunity for her and her family, born of her will to improve their lives.
