I've been part of Mothers of Africa for over 10 years now and I’ve seen the charity grow and become increasingly effective. It all started as a clinical charity to stop women dying in childbirth, a wonderful aim. Very many clinicians, in very many countries have been given extra education over the years, their skills have increased and its helping them save women’s lives.
The clinical work carries on, but now we also take the education of girls and boys in the community very seriously. When young people are educated, they can escape from poverty and look after their own health. I am delighted to support the charity as a UK trustee and I help out with secretarial duties.
