Art Projects
Go Zambia, the overarching community inspired concept, which launched Mothers of Africa’s collaboration with the people of Chongwe and Shiyala, started with an art exhibition in Cardiff. Since then art has played a role in engaging with the community and awareness raising.
Art Projects
Artist Sue Hunt has worked with local artist families in Shiyala, creating murals in the education block. Working with photographer Paul Crompton, they produced a series of powerful portraits through which medical staff in Chongwe District Hospital presented key health messages for their own people. These portraits were exhibited throughout the hospital. Mothers of Africa has had strong links with Rumney School in Cardiff, where Maggie, Sue, Paul and colleague Adrian Shaw have run arts and printing workshop, inspiring the children to fundraise for the charity.
