I am a Mothers of Africa UK Trustee and lead for clinical education and I'm a Consultant Anaesthetist in Wales, in the UK. I joined MoA in 2011 when the charity was opening up the project in Chongwe, Zambia. We had been invited in to assist Dr Job Mwanza with the opening of the District Hospital and its operating theatres.

It has been an exciting few years. Many joint challenges, lots of shared learning. The hospital now delivers the babies of hundreds of women every year, who would have had to travel long distances for operations like Caesarean Section, risking their lives and those of their babies. Mothers of Africa really is making a difference and saving lives through education, I've seen it first-hand.
