Like a lot of people, I used to watch the news and view the images of poverty in sub- Saharan Africa. Like a lot of people, I used to wish that I could do something to help the situation of mothers and children. In 2013, my wish was granted...

I have lived in Monaco for over 25 years where I work as an English teacher and I have had the joy of raising two beautiful boys alongside my husband. I am also the sister of Professor Judith Hall,  the founder of Mothers of Africa.
 

In 2013, she suggested, “Why don’t you come with me on my next MoA trip to Zambia?” My reaction was a typical one, “Yes, but what can I do?” Many years later, I discovered there is a lot I can do. I have worked in Zambia alongside volunteer teachers, fully- qualified teachers, taught children, run a vacation school, supplied teaching materials, raised money to buy school books, helped set up a MoA, Monaco association, organised fund raising events...the list goes on and will continue to go on.

Working in Africa and working for MoA is extremely rewarding. I see great hope in Africa and as a teacher I believe that the education of mothers and children is the key to its successful future.
